Critical Path Solutions, LLC(CPS) was formed in 2002 as software and consulting firm to focus on the challenges of introducing advanced solutions and payment technologies into the retail environment. The founders saw an opportunity to become the “integrators’ integrator” specializing on retail solutions and electronic payment applications.
Critical Path’s core team members’ have literally decades worth of practical experience in the retail technology/electronic payments industry. Implementing retail and payment technologies is full of subtle nuances that can trip up the uninitiated. Critical Path brings their collective experience and specialized processes and tools to bear on behalf of their clients to deliver solutions that result in successful implementations, increased market penetration or substantial implementation and operational cost savings.
This is accomplished through the firm's understanding of the technology or electronic payment value chain in different vertical markets, who the players are, and how to insure the widest acceptance of a new payment application. CPS understands what pitfalls to avoid in implementing and operating technology and payment solutions.

Jim Troy - President
Mr. Troy brings Critical Path over 25 years of expertise in payment systems, retail automation, channel partner development, and alliance partner relationships. On engagements, he will typically be responsible for identifying appropriate vendors and for the vendor management function. Mr. Troy began his career with TeleCheck, Inc./Tymshare, where he delivered the first completely electronic credit/debit/check authorization system supporting over 400,000 merchant locations. Mr. Troy began Integrated Transaction Solutions, Inc., where he developed alliances with VISA, NCR, IBM, Fujitsu, and Wincor-Nixdorf, along with their Business Partners. In the early 1990's Mr. Troy worked for VeriFone, Inc. where he headed up their transaction management and host-switching program called Digital Xpress. In 1998 Mr. Troy joined IVI Checkmate where he developed the indirect-channel strategy leveraging the same VAR channel relationships he has cultivated throughout his career. Mr. Troy also serves as SVP of Business Development for VueMedia, Inc., a related party to Critical Path and a provider of integrated payment and in-store customer specific marketing technology.
Rick Lynch - CFO/Corporate Development
Mr. Lynch brings over 20 years experience working with leading on-line payment and retail technology firms, as well as experience with leading management consulting firms. On engagements, he will typically be responsible for the business aspects of the project and solution marketing support for consulting projects and retailer implementations. Mr. Lynch's experience includes serving as President and CFO of VueMedia, Inc., a provider of integrated payment and in-store customer specific marketing technology and services. Prior to that Mr. Lynch was COO for E-Visions, Inc., an IBM reseller where he led a successful corporate turnaround. Mr. Lynch previously helped launch Edgecom, Corp., a provider of retail transaction data network technology, where he participated in its start-up and engineered its acquisition by GTECH Corporation. Mr. Lynch also held the position of General Manager - Business Development VeriFone/Hewlett Packard, and has consulted with many of the leading retail technology and payment system companies in the industry. He started his career with Arthur Andersen & Co., and later served as a Consulting Manager for Tunstall Consulting Inc., a management firm providing strategy, corporate finance, and turnaround management services for corporate clients. He is a graduate of The Citadel with a degree in Business Administration, is a CPA, and earned his MBA from Georgia State University's Executive Program in 2002.
Paul Vermeulen - Chief Technical Officer
Mr. Vermeulen brings over 20 years of experience in the design, development, integration and marketing of point of sale, transaction processing and loyalty solutions for retailers. He will be responsible for providing the technical, payment and integration expertise necessary to architect the optimal solutions for clients, and he will provide solution engineering support for retailer implementations. He began his career with IBM and spent 15 years providing engineering, marketing and consulting to large retailers and financial institutions with disciplines in real time transaction processing and communications. After leaving IBM, he spent 5 years providing consulting and communication solutions to retailers for Kyrus Corporation (now Agilisys) along with expanding new markets in the Florida and the Caribbean. During the 1990's, Mr. Vermeulen built his own firm, Total Retail Solutions, Inc. (TRS), into a successful retail technology, payment and integration business. In 1997, TRS was acquired by IVI Checkmate who later became Ingenico. Mr. Vermeulen remained with Ingenico as the Vice President of Software Research and Development where he was responsible for providing software solutions that augmented new and existing hardware platforms. He is a graduate of the University of Miami and received his MBA from the University of South Florida.
